Does Shawn Fain Make You Vomit?
UAW chief Shawn Fain issued a statement on Wednesday, a week and a day after the election.
Which is our higher value, class struggle or bowing to the outcomes of capitalist democracy? Here is the first paragraph of his statement:
Last week, the American people decided to give Donald Trump another term as President of the United States. In a democracy, the four most important words are: The People Have Spoken. (his caps)
Fain didn't need to say out loud that class struggle is absolute and capitalist democracy is relative. But he was not merely circumspect. Fain could not suppress his class collaborationist mindset. Further on, he says, "The UAW will also work with any politician, regardless of party, who stands with the working class." In his practice, that means all tactics and no working-class strategy.
