RAISES MISSING ACROSS WORLDPORT! TEAMSTER LEADERS SILENT!
On August 1st, Teamsters union employees hired on or before the 2023-2028 contract were promised a 1.22¢ raise. Many eligible employees are not receiving it.
The COLA (Cost of Living Agreement) is under article 33 of the 2023-2028 contract as an additional raise that comes into effect whenever the US inflation rate exceeds a certain threshold. Inflation has increased 4.4 percent between May 2024 and May 2025, which per the contract means that union employees should have received 22 extra cents to their dollar raises on August 1st. This fact was acknowledged by Teamsters in June on their website.
Reports from all over UPS make it clear that this raise is not being given. To make matters worse, a small number of employees report receiving the raise, while others report receiving even less than the base dollar amount. The rate does not seem to be determined by seniority either, since a vast majority of employees with 10+ years have not received their extra 22 cents.
So far stewards and management alike have been quiet on this issue; some even deny to talk about it whatsoever. They know this is wage theft; it should be met with a quick response. If the Teamsters‘ leadership isn’t mobilizing the workers, what stops UPS from withholding even more with impunity? How far are we willing to let this go? The workers must collectively take action and take what’s ours!
The Communist Workers’ Platform USA stands in solidarity with our fellow workers at UPS Worldport in our struggle for a union built to fight against exploitation and against the tyranny imposed by UPS.
