Louisville Local Committee Statement on the Worldport Crash

By Louisville Local Committee

November 4th saw an incredibly destructive plane crash at UPS Worldport in Louisville, Kentucky. The left wing was ablaze before the engine detached from the plane entirely, the plane itself crashing into a ball of fire after momentarily taking off. As of now, the toll is 14 dead, 15 injured.

This disaster has taken place during a period of some of the worst aviation disasters in recent memory. The MD-11 fleet is being pushed at the very end of their life cycle, with this plane having recently undergone extensive repairs. This was a completely preventable event, but as we’ve seen with other aviation accidents from Boeing cutting corners and skeleton crews operating air traffic, the capitalists search for more wealth will inevitably destroy those capable of creating it.

To the families of the victims, we express our condolences and support you in every effort for remuneration of the lives that were taken. To all the workers at Worldport, an injury to one is an injury to all. The labor you perform collectively creates billions of dollars in wealth every year that you will never even see while you put your lives on the line. You must prepare to fight for a world where your life is no longer on the line for the sake of a class that is exploiting you, but is instead made safe by your own collective hands. We must prepare for a revolution against capitalism-imperialism and instead towards socialism-communism. The Louisville Local Committee of the CWPUSA supports you!
