To the workers and people of Venezuela,

To the Communist Party of Venezuela,

We extend our deepest condolences to all those who have lost loved ones, suffered injuries, or seen their homes damaged in the wake of the recent earthquake, which has now claimed the lives of over 1400 people.

History shows that, in times of crisis, we cannot expect salvation from the ruling class: only the people can save the people. Indeed, while earthquakes are natural phenomena, the scale of the suffering they produce is shaped by the policies and interests of capitalism. These disasters expose the consequences of a system that places profits above human life, where inadequate planning, insufficient investment in infrastructure, and a lack of scientific research leave workplaces and communities more vulnerable than they need to be. Today, we have the technology and capability to prevent such catastrophes, yet they aren't being used. This tragedy is therefore not only a moment for mourning but also a reminder of the importance of fighting to build a society that prioritizes human life above profits.

We express our unwavering solidarity with the workers and people of Venezuela in this time of crisis.
